The mission of Norman Borlaug Elementary is to create a community of learners who work diligently for student success. Borlaug is a safe and caring environment that is child-centered, focused on bringing forth our students’ full-potential. High academic standards are maintained by carefully and continuously evaluating each student’s progress. We celebrate learning achievements and being part of the Borlaug Community. We are the Borlaug Bulldogs, who are proud of Dr. Borlaug’s story and his lifetime of accomplishments.
Borlaug offers district programs including Gifted and Talented (ELP), Orchestra and Band Instruction, Art, Music, Physical Education, Library & Technology, Counseling, Special Education, Breakfast and Hot Lunch. We also have additional programs which include English Language Learners (ELL), Preschool, and Student Family Advocate. Student Programs include Student Council and Safety Patrol.
Through the implementation of a school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) plan, students are taught and acknowledged for positive behavior and social skills. Borlaug has common behavior expectations in all areas of the school. The Counseling and Health curriculums are infused with friendship and anti-bullying lessons. Children are taught and expected to demonstrate the skills needed to be safe, respectful, and responsible students.
Parent involvement is an important component of Borlaug Elementary. Parents are active partners and supporters in our community of learners. They communicate regularly with teachers, volunteer in our school, and regularly advocate for our children. The Borlaug Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) promotes parent involvement and supports the activities in our school.
