About Borlaug Elementary

Norman Borlaug Elementary School, located at 1000 Kennedy Parkway in Coralville, Iowa, opened in 2012 and serves approximately 400 students. We are committed to providing high-quality instruction in a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
Our mission is to ensure every student becomes a responsible, independent learner prepared to make informed decisions and thrive in an ever-changing world. We accomplish this through rigorous, engaging instruction, dedicated educators, and strong partnerships with families and the community.Borlaug offers a wide range of programs and services, including Extended Learning Program (ELP) for gifted learners, orchestra, band, art, music, physical education, library and technology, counseling, special education, English Learner (EL) services, preschool, a Student Family Advocate, breakfast, and hot lunch. Students also have opportunities to participate in Student Council and Safety Patrol.

We foster a positive school culture through our schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. Students are taught and recognized for demonstrating safe, respectful, and responsible behaviors while developing strong social-emotional skills.

Families are valued partners in our school community. Through regular communication, volunteer opportunities, and the support of our active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), we work together to help every student succeed.
